About Me

The Ultimate Blend

Hi there! And welcome to my page. I hope you have come across this blog looking for inspiration, encouragement, and positivity- if so, you've come to the right place!

What is This Blog For?

I have been on a long, hard, but rewarding journey to lose 100Ib. In this process, I have learned so much about health and fitness, so I decided to share this knowledge with others, so that they too can start utilizing the tools and resources needed for a happy and healthy life.

This blog has five different sections:

Fitness: This is all workout related information. This includes things like how to start working out, fitness product reviews, workout programs Ive either completed or in the process of completing, workout recaps, goals, etc. If you need some motivation to hit the gym or want to know about the best workout for your legs (and there are plenty), this is the right spot.

Recipes:  This is all food related posts. I LOVE food, and 80% of your weight loss success is directly linked to your nutrition, so it's an important thing to look at and take on. Here you'll find recipes. food reviews, food log tracking information, and more.

Travel: I have an intense love for travel (who doesn't?). This section is dedicated to documenting the tourist in me, as well as reviews for each place I go.

Race Recaps: I like to run. Alot. This leads to running a lot of races. Being the opinionated girl that I am, I review the races on what went well, what could have gone better, and if Id run the race again.

Life Moments: This section is for all those 'life happens while you're busy planning it' moments. Sometimes, you just have to set aside the nutrition, working out, daily business and remember to breathe. Whether it's a fun pinterest project (like the happy jar! See here), or a moment of shared sadness, those moments will be here.

Feel free to only go to certain sections, or follow day by day to see how I blend all of these things into my daily life.

How did you get here?

What a question. I guess the best place to start is at the beginning.

I have struggled with my weight my entire life.

2012

January 2013- First Half Marathon

I was always aware of my weight, and attempted to hide it as best as I could (although to be honest I wasn't nearly as successful as I thought I was). I've always been fortunate to have people who loved me no matter what I looked like, although my parents frequently made their concerns about my health known (as lovingly as possible of course).

I remember when it happened, the day I had finally had enough. In July 2014, We had a family reunion in Hawaii. As a gift to my grandparents, we all took family photos together.

That's when I saw this:

July 2014- Hawaii; 234Ibs
My jaw nearly hit the floor. Who was this person staring back at me? I didn't recognize myself at all. I immediately got on to the scale, something I had always successfully avoided. 234Ib. According to my BMI, I was 100 pounds overweight and considered morbidly obese.I cried very hard that night, and the next morning I made the commitment to lose weight once and for all. The ultimate goal weight: 130

I started off with small changes- my first goal was nutrition. I started logging what I ate everyday, keeping within the calories allotted based on the settings provided in the app (I used myfitnesspal). After a month, I dropped twenty pounds.

Then I started incorporating working out. At this point, I was already using a run/walk method for half marathons, but was very slow- it took me about three and a half to four hours to complete one. I loved running through the parks at Disneyland though, and so I started training for the Avengers half in November 2014. This continued through January 2015, in which I completed the Star Wars Half Marathon, also at Disneyland. By this point, I was down to 190 Pounds- 44 pounds lost since August 2014.

Racing Queen! August 2014 (234)- November 2014 (215)- January 2015 (190)

Fast forward to May 2015, and I was at 168 pounds when I ran the tinker bell half marathon. Since then, I have introduced weight training, go to the gym 5-6 days a week, and follow the 80-20 rule with nutrition (eat right 80% of the time, with occasional treats). My weight loss progress slowed, which was expected. By October 2015, I was 160 pounds- a 74 pounds gone in a year. Holy Smokes
May 2015- Tinkerbell half (168)
October 2015- Urban Cow Half- 160

Sometimes, I look back, and I cant believe the transformation- I look so different, and yet for the most part I feel exactly the same.
Meeting Matt Webb (Marianas Trench) May 2013 vs, November 2015.

My current weight is 158, that's 28 more pounds to go before I will have lost 100 pounds. Let's do this!
